A content management system (CMS) is a system used to manage the content of a Web
site. Typically, the CMS developed by
Bowman Software consists of a web-based application
that enables the client to control and modify the text and other content such as
images and documents. CMS are also used to modify a product catalog in e-commerce
sites.
The CMS allows the content manager or author, who may not know Hypertext
Markup Language (HTML), to manage the creation, modification, and removal of content
from a web site without needing the expertise of a Webmaster.
The Content Management System can be designed specifically for each web site thus
making modifications as simple as possible by using only elements required. It can
be used to manage a whole or only certain parts of the site as required.
The CMS can also be integrated with existing web sites to improve their updatability.
CMS are an essential tool to keep the web site constantly updated with fresh and
relevant content.
